Gender Equality
2nd PREW
Women and Participation
Belfast, 23-26 September 2004
The second PREW gathered 20 trans-European participants in the city of Belfast, Northern Ireland. It focused on initiatives that aimed to improve women's political participation in society, in particularly underprivileged areas of the city. In the context of Belfast, the political theme was particularly appropriate.
Visiting peers were introduced to Belfast's so-called "conflict" history and situation. Peers visited sites and projects that illustrated Irish and immigrant women's contribution to the city's political evolution.
The final report describes the projects visited and gathers comments made by visiting trans-Europeans peers who took part in this exchange. This report is available hereunder.
