Gender Equality
1st PREW
Family and Social Cohesion
Turin, 27-30 May 2004
The first PREW took place in Turin, Italy, in the district of Porta Palazzo, an area where migrants have traditionally first settled in Torino and which is home to a high proportion of migrants. This district is undergoing urban regeneration and is rich in social projects aimed at various groups of women. Our host showed its 20 visiting participants, three projects developed in its territory. These projects targeted women, mainly migrants, and aimed to socialise them, empower them and involve them actively in civic life, taking account of their responsibilities as women (ex. work/family balance) and their special position in society. The final report describes the projects visited and gathers comments made by visiting trans-Europeans partners who took part in this exchange. This report is available hereunder.
