Partners - Intercultural Institute of Timisoara

IIT is a leading Romanian NGO with twenty years of experience and with a rich record of local, national and European activities promoting intercultural understanding and democratic citizenship. IIT has a large network of partners and a very good cooperation with governmental structures in the fields of education, culture, youth, minorities. IIT has a regular cooperation since 2006 with the Romanian Parliament and has organised several events in cooperation with the Parliament, involving representatives of all parliamentary political parties and representatives of national minority organisations. IIT is an autonomous structure, having as members individual citizens, as well as institutions and organisations and is led by an elected Board.

IIT has been among the pioneers of promoting information about EU and the idea of participation of citizens in European affairs. In 2006 IIT organised a network of student clubs in major Romanian universities to debate issues related to European integration. IIT has regularly initiatives of raisining the awareness of citizens on European issues. On several occasions members of the European Parliament attended our activities. Gender equality has been addressed in several projects, since 2004. This is reflected in the participation in several European projects on this topic and in local activities, mainly targeting young people.
